I Need Some Resources Here...
« on: May 05, 2004, 03:35:15 PM »

For a research paper in my advanced composition class, I am going to do a paper on pointing out the fallacies and limits of Formal Logic.  Of course, since Capitalist society considers such logic to be a pure truth, they don't have any articles that I am looking for.  Can any of you post some links on information I am looking for?

Reason and Revolt by Allan Wood (excellent source on Dialectic Materialism) it's online (so you don't need to go to buy it) at http://www.Marxist.com
Also, the preface in Trotsky's "the history of the Russian Revolution" point out in very excellent detail the failures of "traditional" logic and analysis of hitory and events.
I hope this helps.

Make sure to read The ABC of Materialist Dialectics by Trotsky. It's a very good essay explaining briefly why dialectical logic is superior to formal logic.

Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

*Volkov hits himself in the forehead.*  Duh!  Why did I not have that one in mind?!  To top it off, that book is LOADED with citations to other works as well.  That alone should be sufficient!  Thank you!:)

I managed to find that one, and it is a good one.  Not only does it explain things well, but it is short and sweet as well.:)
