Excelent meeting today, 17-18 students attended along with a few comrades and contacts. Great lead of by Rob followed by an interesting and varied discussion, should set us up nicely for having a good strong Marxist society in one of the worlds most famous universities

Also, the scum from the 'liberty club' didnt dare attend, but we discussed plans amongst ourselves to challenge them in debate in the near future.

Good work Igor! On Wednesday we organise a Marxist discussion circle in Ghent, where we will discuss the first four chapters of Reason in Revolt, which have been translated into Dutch. So we will be tackling dialectics with our comrades and some sympathisers from Ghent University.

Perhaps it's not a bad idea to start a separate thread for posting reports on Marxist activities 'in real life'?

Yes, I agree with a thread for posting all information concerning meetings and discussions so as to inform all people about the time and location of meetings.

Is anyone aware of any upcoming events in Glasgow? Or are there any of you comrades in Glasgow and up for the possibility of starting a physical discussion group with the aim of recruiting new members?

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum, have we spoken before? There is currently nothing planned in Glasgow although we have a few good comrades there they are older and less active at the moment. If you wished to set up a public meeting (which would give you the foundations for building a discussion group) in the near future you would get alot of support, material and a speaker etc from the other Scottish and UK comrades. Glasgow is a key area with a revolutionary tradition, there is a thirst for Marxist ideas and we have the ideas, we must spread these ideas

hi igor, no we havent spoken before i'm a pretty newish comrade but hope to speak to you soon. i think you are right about the thirst for Marxist philosophy in Glasgow and feel that the time is good for looking and getting something going. as i said i'm pretty knew to it and don't have a lot of confidence that i could properly discuss the ideas with someone. but i am learning and thats whats important =) what are your views and ideas on a glasgow group? how should it be done?

Your right, I think self education first and foremost will give you increased confidence, ideas and knowledge bring confidence, confidence in ideas and confidence in yourself.

The way I got started was to sell a few papers in the streets every month, it gives you the chance to meet people and discuss with them. When you make contacts you can arrange to meet up regularly and take it from there really.

There is a section on the YFIS website about  starting a Marxist discussion group which will help you alot :)
