This is something I wrote a few weeks ago. I think it shows that I need to work on my songwriting skills.
What Must Arise in Your Soul (Begins in Your Mind)
Well I was tryin' ev'ry day to convince myself That this feeling that I had yes it was wrong. Yes I heard those people say it would soon just go away And all I had to do was be strong. They were laughin', they were lookin', they smelled somethin' cookin' They just could not believe I was serious
But now I understand, I'm not afraid... I'd been unsure, but now I see the way...
What must arise in your soul begins in your mind In times of trouble there is solace you can find Do not believe in the role you've been assigned I will not give in till repression has resigned
So you come into my life, ask me pointed questions, I try to make some sense of it all. I've been savin' up my time, hidin' under rocks and sofas, You presume I'm ready to fall But my friend you have no vision, your eyes cannot quite see That you don't own wisdom and your words - they can't Touch me
I've found my strength, my fortitude... It's better than any you could buy... What must arise in your soul begins in your mind In times of trouble there is solace you can find Do not believe in the role you've been assigned I will not give in till repression has resigned
I will stalk your exploitation I will find you rife with greed I will throw away the blinders And pursue you through the world I expose all your falsehoods I bring them to the light I, with many or alone, Resolve myself to fight Resolve myself to fight
Now I've given you warning, a fresh pot of coffee, To which you'll pay no heed You could save yourself and millions if you would just listen And change your thoughts, acts and deeds Oh my friend where is your vision, why can't your eyes see That the future's comin' fast, And you're just spreadin' its seed?
