reawakening of the working class
« on: August 06, 2003, 02:22:10 PM »

I think we all were witnesses to the biggest anti war movement ever. It is the working class, which after years of being exploitet and being disappointed is now starting to say: " Enough is enough!"
There were many casualties during the war and many more are going to come. And as we humans can learn out of history we should  take a look back to the years of the vietnam war and how US imperalism was forced to leave the country because they were defeated at the home front by the american working class.
Also here in Austria a relative small country in Europe there were many people participating in anti war demonstrations, and i think they experienced a lot. No one can justify to spend money on military and big corporations and at the same time you see how the social system is step by step destroyed, and the rich are always complaining about how but the economy developes.
Thats why we must oppose privatisation, loan cuts and other attacks which are directed on the workers lives.

Yes I agree.
In Denmark we have seen the same and even though the movement is almost non-existing now it is sure too explode again.
The demonstrations attracted a lot of people who haven't been active before and also older people got activated by it again.
The so-called end of the war naturally stopped the movement for a while but since nothing has been solved for the people of Iraq people will begin to move again. Also the economic state of affairs will play a part in this.
