Are the rank and file of political parties more radical than their politicians?
« on: April 27, 2010, 10:41:30 PM »

These are 20 of my friends who have taken the "Political Compass" quiz on the internet (Yes, I know it is just an online quiz and has its limits), Many of them are Marxists and 19 is a "Marxist-Leninist" who has a man crush on Stalin, but what seemed most interesting to me is that 10, 20, and 24 are Democrats, and 26 is a Republican, they all seem far Left of prominent politicians in their own parties, does this show a real trend, or is it a coincidence?

Here are some American politicians to compare:

The only person who seems anywhere near these people is Dennis Kucinich, who has long been considered a Radical by Democratic Party standards.

I find that test stupid. Thatcher is righter than Hitler??? Come on. It's not realistic at all.

Wasn't it also called "extra-right" like Stalin was "radical-left"?

Right and Left has to do with economic stances. Hitler advocated a fairly centrist economy with some nationalized industries making him to the center. Whilst Margaret Thatcher deregulated the British economy and busted strikes.

I still think it's confused.

Anyway, my solution was something like -7 and 0.

Excellent list! I've learned more from this forum in about 2 days than I have at any other forum community.

Hitler is the rightest - National Socialism is the rightest form of Fascism, which is the rightest political orientation - so Thatcher can't be righter than him. Can she?
