Connolly is one of my biggest influences. Leon Trotsky's writings are of course a good place to get into Marxism.

Depends what you want to read, there is a lot of books maybe you could be more specific? I'm reading right now "a Peoples History of the United States" by the late Howard Zinn, which so far is really good. the "Black Jacobins" by C.L.R James is really good too. "Revolution Betrayed" by Trotsky "Iron Heel" by Jack London "Autobiography of Malcolm X" "Black Panthers Speak" "Killing Hope" by William Blum. All of which are good, could also check out some books on www.marxist.com which are always good :)

This is definitely a good place to start. This is where I went when I first started reading Marxist works years ago. You can find just about anything here when it comes to classical Marxist works, in addition to numerous reference writers. I would also recommend to check out marxist.com for regular Marxist news and analysis (as Jimi4444 stated). There are also some books there as well. If you are looking to get your hands on actual Marxist books (not reading them online), let us know about it. I am pretty good at tracking such books down.

That is where I learned a lot of what I understand now about socialist thought. The site contains the works of some great thinkers, Connolly as you have already mentioned included. He is a very interesting character. Other required reading would include, Trotsky, Chomsky and Lenin. I'd say that would be a good place to start. I also advise reading about the various types of socialism. For example; Mao's little red book is going to advocate very different views to anything by Trotsky.

These moths I don't read anything beside Capital. It's hard and long, but I will read it till the end because I respect Marx and his opinions.

As was previously mentioned, marxist.com has some wonderful books. The beauty about them is the simplicity in which its read. Very easy reading while gaining a wealth of knowledge. If you are interested in how the Bolshevik party and their ultimate success in the Russian Revolution, I can not recommend enough Bolshevism: Road to Revolution. http://www.marxist.com/bolshevism-old/index.html(Side note: Hurrah for making it hard to find the book now! Love the new site! Thankfully I could use the search bar, since I knew the name. Heh, after a little more searching I actually found the book section on the main page cluttered next to a bunch of other information. Other than that, I did not see any links to the books, except a few under the publications tab.) And another good work which has won over more than a few of us on this board is Lenin's "State and Revolution." http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1917/staterev/index.htm

Hi Comrade,
You should read Lenin's "The State and Revolution". I also read the articles on Maxist.com as some of them offer insight about the history of the struggle of Marx and his role in the formations of the IWA (International Workingmen's Association).
Thanks
Ali

I actually like the new site. I guess, as they say, different strokes... Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman.
Yeah, that would make pretty good kindling. J/k, of course, we don't burn books. That would be wasteful. I could perhaps use it as a doorstop or something. In all seriousness though, The State and Revolution by Lenin is one of my favorite theoretical works, definitely the most concise writing on the state out there. Favorite quote: So long as the state exists there is no freedom. When there is freedom, there will be no state.
His analysis of the economic basis for the withering away of the state is spectacular. I would also suggest Anti-Duhring by Engels( http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1877/anti-duhring/index.htm) or The Revolution Betrayed by Trotsky( http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1936/revbet/).
