I have to say I am really against this sort of thing. I'm not saying I advocate crulety to any creature, but rather that we need to get over the fact that we have been eating meat for as long as we have existed.
Humans everywhere need to realise that there are few things more natural than eating meat, I feel that society has become too civilised over the centuries and that we now are faced with angsty teens who dont want to eat meat because lets be honest, a lot of the time, they are just being squeamish.
Meat itself is healthy and quite benifial as part of a balanced diet, without meat, humankind would definitely be a weaker species. Take a look at the difference between a Lion and a Zebra for example. The Lion is strong and powerful it has developed into a muscular creature, whereas the Zebra, which is a herbivore is the hunted. It has no ability to fight or defend itself and so thanks to natural selection the Zebra is killed and the Lion is fed.
Eating meat IS survival! If you wouldn't kill an animal for meat, then more fool you.

I think that's a little harsh. Though I'm not saying I agree with everything, I think we can raise constructive criticisms better than that. Personally I'm not a Vegetarian, and don't advocate for everyone to stop eating meat. Actually as Engels pointed out in the "Part Played by Labor in the Transition from Ape to Man" that eating meat actually helped us to move to the top of the food chains. That being said I think that we could cut back on our meat consumption, you just have to look at how much cows actually pollute the air to realize that. There are also more humane ways of dealing with it too I think, though I honestly haven't done to much research into it.
