Hello,
My name is Khaetlyn. (Yes, that is really how you spell it.) I live in South Carolina, surrounded by right-wing teabaggers and Libertarians, and know no socialists and hardly any people close to the left. I formerly considered myself an anarchist after reading essays from Emma Goldman, but I found my way to Marxism through other forums (veganfreaks.com) and reading about views from the Marxists on that site.
If it wasn't obvious from my forum affiliation mentioned above, I am a vegan. Being a vegan means that I do not eat meat, dairy, eggs, honey, or use fur, leather, wool, silk, or any other animal products. I also do not participate in rodeos, horse races, etc... I grew up eating and using animal products, but became a vegetarian at 14 when I was posed with the question: "If you wouldn't eat a cat, why eat a cow?" After understanding that there is not a morally significant difference between a cat, cow, or chicken, I decided I needed to do something to cure my "moral schizophrenia." I started out as a vegetarian, but after six months decided I needed to go all the way. I will start another thread on this, most likely, and discuss why I think non-human animals need to be included in the broader struggle for liberation. I will discuss, share, and debate---but I do NOT preach. I dislike preachy vegans, PETA, HSUS, and other crazies who make us look insane.
As for my religious views, I am an atheist from a deeply religious family.
I recently downloaded The Manifesto from marxist.org and I would love to talk about it when I finish.
Some of my interests include art, music, writing, poetry, reading, sociology, history, journalism, activism...
On January 18th, I will turn 16.
I'm not entirely sure what I was supposed to post in here, so if you want to know anything else, simply ask and I may or may not answer.
Yours comradely, Khaetlyn

Thanks, guys!
Just to let you know, I posted a thread in the Advanced Theory section with an essay I wrote on animal rights.

Hey comrade! For a 15 year old you're doing really good, my sister is 15 and you're already about light years a head of her and her friends. Glad you found your way to marxist.com a lot of good stuff and hope you enjoy it. the Communist Manifesto is an excellent read, if you have any questions you could defiantly ask. Actually I think for theory a whole discussion on that would be interesting.

Welcome to the forum!
The Communist Manifesto is definitely a good place to start! When I was 15 years old, I was a confused Stalinist that had no access to Marxist literature. In that sense, you are ahead of where I was at that point in my life.
