How did Che Guevara become a Marxist? was it when He was a teenager reading books from his father's library? or when he met his first wife Hilda Gadea?

I'm sure you've probably seen Motorcycle Diaries.... if not I would highly suggest watching that movie. I know it may not be a very historical portrayal of Che's early adult life, but I don't know of any major differences between what happened in reality vs. what happened in the movie. In either case I would think that a trip like the one he went on exposed him to many of the problems the people on the South American continent faced and still continue to face, and I'm sure it inevitably led him to think about the logical solutions. If you see those problems and the reality that he most likely would have seen on his trip, then it would make sense that he would be open to idealogies which have the main goal of solving such problems. Communism is only mentioned briefly in the movie though.

Both Che movies (part 1 and part 2) with Del Toro are great. They are long, but when the movie is good it doesn't matter. They don't cover anything about Che's early adulthood or anything about what happens between the time that the revolution won over in Cuba to just before he leaves for Bolivia (he spent some time in Africa among many other things), but they still cover a large part part of his life.

The first part of Che was great, I really enjoyed it.
The second part was quite boring, and his mission so aimless and hopeless, nearly alone in the jungle.

I believe that he started studying Marxism while getting in getting involved in the reforms of Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, becoming more radicalized when Guzmán was overthrown by a CIA backed coup, Later as we all know he met Raúl Castro and was introduced to Nikolai Leonov, who although he was a Nationalist rather than a Communist he reportedly told Che the standard propaganda regarding the USSR and some books to read, mostly it seems by Lenin and Stalin, thankfully it seems he was influenced more by the former than by the latter, and took the latter at face value rather than following his actual ideology.. but really it is a shame that Che was misguided by his times and influences.
edit: Does anyone think this should be moved to history?

Definitely... anywhere but the introduction forum. How do we go about this? Do we report it?
