My name is Antonio Balmer, and I am a member of the Workers International League, Oroville CA branch. Every Friday night I host a Marxist show on my community's radio station, which can be heard live online at www.radiobirdstreet.org there is also webcam. Since I'm given a one hour slot, I usually keep to the basic topics of Marxist perspectives of capitalism and revolution. So it may be redundant for the advanced comrades, but I would invite anyone new to Marxism to listen in. The show starts at 9:00 PM pacific standard. so I believe that's 10:00PM mountain, 11:00PM central, and midnight eastern. That's pretty late on the east coast, but hopefully some comrades can listen in and give me some feedback? My plan for tonight's show is to talk about class struggle in capitalism, wage slavery, concentration of capital, and how the state serves the interests of the ruling class. I also plan to speak of Socialist revolution including a mass party of labor, workers control and nationalization of commanding heights of the economy, and a bit on Trotsky's transitional program... all in one hour! Please let me know what you think of the show and call in if you like! The numbers and information for calling in are on the website. Thanks. comradely, Antonio

I wasn't able to listen in on this week's show, only because we had a bad illness going around in our family. How did the show go? I'll be looking for it again in the future, but I assume not on Friday the 25th?

It actually went pretty well from my perspective, not many viewers but I think that as a whole you can't complain, as for Christmas.. You will have to wait for Antonio to answer.

I am definitely going to try and listen, but since I live on the east coast, reminding a radio show at 1am is going to be a little hard. :D

Last nights show was really cool. I think it's amazing that you have a radio show to spread Marxism to your community, I wish we had something similar here in NC.

Oh so you did watch it? Have any suggestions or feedback on subjects we should talk about? Really what we need is some callers..

I'm sorry I missed the show! I for some reason was expecting it tonight instead of last night. I see there are recordings of some shows, but I'm not sure if yours is included (I didn't see it when I glanced through the recordings). Is your previous shows available as recordings? As far as calls, I may be able to do so occasionally in the future. I have a sleeping kid in the next room so it will be a little more difficult than otherwise, but I'm sure it will be able to to happen.

Yes we are very sorry to dissappoint any comrades who tuned in and didn't hear us...we had a miscommunication last night about switching program times. But the result is not bad because from now on the show will begin an hour earlier and hopefully this makes it more convenient for comrades in later time zones to tune in. So the show can be accessed at www.radiobirdstreet.org (just click on the LIVE button) at 9:00pm Pacific Standard, 10:00pm Mt., 11:00pm Central, and Midnight eastern. This upcoming friday we'll be having a special on Frequently asked questions and Misconceptions about Marxism. Hope we can get some listeners to tune in. Again, sorry about the miscommunication. comradely, Antonio and Oroville comrades.

I tuned in and saw a couple of big guys playing classic rock and singing along occasionally :D . I'll make sure to update my calendar and be there next week.

For tonight's show in addition to covering the basic elements of capitalism and socialism, we plan to discuss some major myths and misconceptions about socialism that we are constantly hearing. Hopefully we can get more comrades to watch us online and call in tonight! the program begins at 9:00PM pacific and lasts for one hour. It should be a good discussion. A few topics I want to be sure to touch on include: the myth that socialism means big government control, the myth that socialism means equal wages for everyone, the misconception that human nature is a barrier to socialism, and the misconception that there is no incentive to work in a socialist society. It should be pretty easy to debunk these myths because what they all have in common is that they reflect a distorted view of socialism, and by laying out a clear Marxist perspective of scientific socialism, the absurdity of the myths becomes apparent. Comrades can call in the booth at 1-530-533-1172 to talk to us and we can put you on the air to join the discussion if you choose. Otherwise you can call in during music breaks and give us feedback and let us know what topics you want to hear about. We appreciate all comments and listeners. Spread the word to other comrades if you enjoy the show.

Awesome, thanks for the update! Would there be a twitter/facebook username, or some other method we could use to send in questions or comments? Or should we just use this forum (through PMs or this thread)? If that isn't possible then I understand, but I wanted to know what would be available along those lines.
