Thanks for that CYM, but I nowhere mentioned banning; I just wondered where you draw the line here.

And good luck trying to debate dialectics with me; you've had precious little of it so far.

I was just wondering how much reactionary stuff you are prepared to put up with from JJM 777?

Remember, if there are no rules, any action taken will always look arbitrary.

I would agree with CyM that he is more misguided and has not really crossed any lines.  There isn't a concrete set of rules due to the forum's inactivity.  If things really started picking up in the future, we would perhaps have to display some set of rules, but we are not currently at such a stage.

We admins aren't incredibly active on the forums, but we have done what we can to deal with offensive stuff like hate speech, spammers, etc.  We did ban an anti-Semite some time ago.

Update:

I have been sniffing around when it comes to new accounts, and we have had some spammers show up here and there. However, I did notice a suspicious account show up, and the account employed an obvious phishing technique - posing as forum administrators in an attempt to gain peoples' passwords to consequently gain control of their accounts.  Needless to say, this phishing account has been banned.

Don't give your passwords out to other people.  Phishers commonly will try to pose as admins and give some lame excuse to try to get your password.  Should anyone get a suspected phishing message, do not give any information and report the user immediately.

Update:

I think this goes without saying, but I just encourage people to continue to look out for spammers, particularly ones that post stuff of a pornographic nature.  So far, we have been able to get rid of such spammers and their posts in a decent amount of time, and I encourage comrades to continue such work.  I just banned a trash heap posting such things.

Should we contact a moderator just through the website or any way possible when it comes to pornographic spam?

Message myself or volkov through the forum if there is something that needs action.

I think we need to make advertising (as in the obvious spam type stuff, not other leftist sites, etc.) an offense worthy of a ban.  I have recently noticed a fair deal of people showing up constantly posting the same type of message regardless of the subject (such as "I learned more at this forum in the past 2 days than any other forum.") in an attempt to get people to see the spam hyperlinks in the user's signature.

Any thoughts on this?

I am a bit busy right now, and I have not managed to clean up everything as of yet, but I have banned some of the spammers.  Hopefully I can get to the rest later.

I deleted the posts by the spammers you banned.

I think it goes without saying that spam bots will be banned without hesitation.
