Hello comrade, it's nice to meet you and it's very nice to hear you are interested in the science of Marxism. Marxism is a tool for understanding the world and how it goes thru stages from one society to another. Marxism is amazing because the more you study and understand it, the more sense you can make of world events, history, and the way we live. I think it's fair to say that half of marxism is about understanding the world we live in today: Capitalism. Marxists see the world through the eyes of the working class. If you think about it from working class perspective, you'll find that workers' labor produces all the wealth of the world, but workers own relatively little amount of this wealth. Since we don't generally own factories and capital for producing wealth, and since we usually aren't born rich, we have no real choice but to live life working for a wage. Wage labor produces wealth for the business owner, but the wages we get are only a fraction of the value we produce, and our wages usually disappear paying the bills anyway. The concentration of capital thru competition means it's harder and harder to start a businesses and smaller businesses are constantly being beat by wealthier ones. So as you can see capitalism is a class society where most of us live lives where we are severly limited. All we have the time and money (and energy) to do is work usually, so that's all we do our whole life. But we workers produce all the wealth... we have all the technology and resources to run society on our own...without the business owners. So socialist revolution is where workers unite and take over these "Means of Production" and use them to create wealth for all of society. Socialism is a much more profound democracy than any system we've seen on earth, because everyone has economic power, not just a wealthy minority. When everyone decides what we produce and how we produce it, then we have the power to do anything. We can eliminate world hunger, poverty, pollution, wars, and a life-style that resembles slavery. So Marxism= understanding of capitalism+understanding of how to change it. I recommend visiting the Marxism FAQ section of this newyouth website. Also if you're interested, I do a marxist radio program I do every friday night at 10:00pm pacific standard. You can watch it and hear it online on the webcam at www.radiobirdstreet.org It's my town's community radio. Nice to meet you again.
