Google Wave
« on: December 05, 2009, 04:18:24 PM »

What does everyone think of Google Wave? If you haven't heard about it, it supposed to be a new way of communicating with people in a real-time way.  I see it as also being an aggregation of all current forms of communication. For instance, a wave (or discussion thread) could automatically be updating one or more external forum or facebook threads (and vice versa). At the moment though, I think it would be a very good way of communicating in real-time between a core group of people.

Does anyone here have a username on Google Wave? I have one and have used it briefly, but the main thing lacking for me is the communication with people I'm wanting to talk with (rather than everyone or some random person). I would like to have discussions around specific topics and have many IMT members be apart of this real-time discussion. If anyone has an account please PM me your information and we can link up. I'll then share some of the waves I've created so far and we can go from there.

Right now the service is in beta so it isn't easy to get an account if you don't already have one. Accounts are being handed out in various places (like the Google Wave facebook group board etc.), so I'll keep my eyes open and if an opportunity arises I'll post about it here.

Looks like things are opening up. Here is a recent article:

If you are interested in getting an account, the fastest way may be to just sign up directly at the Google Wave website:

When I registered it mentioned that members could invite others to join, perhaps you could figure out more about this in case someone else wishes to join?

I did have invites available, but I have already handed them out. I think they originally gave six or eight. If they do hand out anymore I'll hand them out here, but soon we may not have to worry about invites as much because they seem to be opening up invitations.

Awesome you are in. What is your username (PM or post here either way). I'd like to get you added as a contact so I can easily add you to any waves I create (and vice versa).
