Started listening to quite alot Hüsker Dü recently, when listening to them you can here just how many different bands they have influenced.

I dont know why... I honestly dont, but Children of Bodom have become a huge favorite of mine. That particular Swedish band has a totally grip on me, and Im no fan of metal. But the guitarists in that band are amazing. I blame the very classical feel to the music.

I have my hints that the band has its classical roots too, mostly from this video, though the music they play only backs up my classical theorizing.

Regardless of what you think of metal, these guys can play the guitar with amazing skill.

Most black/death/heavy metal that originates in Scandinavia has a classical root of some kind, but dont leave me hanging out on that.

and Various Celtic music. 

When you think about it, that stuff ranges from fast pounding metal to quiet meditative music.  Some of the lyrics of Dimmu Borgir can be a bit harsh if you misinterpret it, but it sounds pretty cool in most cases.  Norther, like Children of Bodom, do well with their guitars, brilliant solo's if i ever heard one.   

THe only trouble is, when i want to get a CD from some of the more alternative bands, I have to wait a whole year for one to come to where I live, so its either I go out and get it or not at all.
