Plekhanov Works
« on: October 25, 2006, 09:38:20 PM »

I have seen mention of a set of Plekhanov's collected works in reading an introduction to my first volume of Plekhanov's selected philosophical writings.  It noted a Russian edition, printed in the 1920's.  Was this set ever printed in English?  I can't seem to find such a set anywhere.  Or is it just really rare?

I am trying to build up a large library, those of Marxism, and those of other tendencies for reference and primary resoruces (I have thought of finding a set of Stalin's works (13 volumes) for this reference purpose, but they are rare and sets sell for US $300 to $400+).  It would be good to have the good works of Plekhaov for learning and the Menshevik ones for primary resources, reference, see exactly what Lenin criticized of his, etc.

Thats awesome, Ive been building my own reference library for awhile now. Though very few have been add lately due to various reasons, mostly parental support. And my own personal money is being diverted elsewhere.

But yeah, I know nothing of the said topic. My only Plekhanov referece right now is MIA. As far as I know they have a few key works, but Im sure theres more than enough interesting material written by him thats made its way into the English language that is not on MIA.

Just kinda like 'Yahhhh!" hearing someone else tried to make their own personal library with various opinions.

Heh.  My parents are also a problem for me.  I keep my books hidden in boxes for such reasons.  I plan to move out soon, early next year to the Twin Cities.  More activity and prospects up there, in addition to comrades being up there (I have not had much luck in this suburban city I live in of only 33,000 residents. I am currently isolated.).

I have not found anything new about these works.  They are probably very rare if they are indeed from the 1920's.  I will keep sniffing around.  Perhaps I will eventually find something.  It took patience to find a decently priced LCW set, so it will probably take that agian for this.
