Stalin and the Struggle for Democratic Reform
« on: December 12, 2005, 02:11:19 PM »

Has anyone read this new stalinist approach? It seems a little bit more original.

I think I mentioned that link somewhere to, interesting article. Still don't totally buy it though, but like I always say, I didn't live then, so I don't know.

Im not really sure if the 1917 revolution happened, nor the American revolution, nor the French revolution.

Anyone have any TV footage I can see? So I know it happened for sure.

I hate this. "we dont really know what happened." Then what do we know, nothing. Then why bother with anything?

Throughout history, leaders and common folk have left records. If we cant say those are true, well then, apparantly anything historical should be declared null & void.

Yes. there are bullshit accounts.

Yet they there are historical accounts.

If we cant believe anything, then why call yourself a social democrat?

Nihilist would be a better stereotype.

I argue this with my girldfriend nightly. If you cant belive aanything, then why bother giving two fucks about anything. Marxism, relys upon history. We learn from history. If we dont learn anyting then wy bother fighting. Why bother giving two fucks about anything.

Yeah, but considering the “history of the U.S.S.R. under Stalin” was documented by Western sources and historians, with little internal documentation in the Soviet Union, we can’t be sure how accurate those accounts were. It’s very possible that Stalin attempted democratic reform in the Soviet Union, but failed. It’s also possible that he was a tyrant and never even considered democratic reform.
