Pat Roberston Warns PA. Of Incoming Disaster
« on: November 11, 2005, 01:11:58 AM »

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce "intelligent design" — the belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power — as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."

I REALLY REALLY HATE this man.  >:(

From the BBC.

Evolution suffers Kansas setback

Darwin's theory of evolution is widely accepted by scientists
Public schools in the US state of Kansas are to be given new science standards that cast doubt on evolution.
The Board of Education's vote, expected for months, approved the new language criticising evolution by 6-4.

Proponents of the change argue they are trying to expose students to legitimate scientific questions about evolution.

The Kansas decision came as voters in Pennsylvania replaced all eight school board members who approved a similar policy in some of the state's schools.

Since October 2004, schools in Dover, Pennsylvania, have been obliged to read out a prepared statement on intelligent design in biology classes.

This is a great day for education

Teachers have been ordered to tell pupils that Darwin's theory of evolution is unproven, and that the universe is so complex that it may have been created by a higher power.

Last month parents in Dover sued the school board, accusing it of introducing religion and creationism into schools, in breach of the US constitutional separation of church and state.

Definition of science

Tuesday's vote in Kansas was the third time in six years that the Kansas board has rewritten standards with evolution as the central issue.

Current state standards treat evolution as well-established, a view held by national science groups.

The new standards include several specific challenges, including statements that there is a lack of evidence or natural explanation for the genetic code, and charges that fossil records are inconsistent with evolutionary theory.

It also states that says certain evolutionary explanations "are not based on direct observations... and often reflect... inferences from indirect or circumstantial evidence".

"This is a great day for education," board chairman Steve Abrams told the Reuters news agency.

Decisions about what is taught in Kansas classrooms will remain with 300 local school boards, but the new standards will be used to develop student tests measuring how well schools teach science.

Educators fear pressure will increase in some communities to teach less about evolution or more about creationism or intelligent design.

'Not science'

In Dover, the first US district to introduce intelligent design into schools, new school board members are thought likely to repeal the policy.

"We are all for it being discussed, but we do not want to see it in biology class," said Judy McIlvaine, a new board member.

"It is not a science."

The case against the intelligent design policy was heard in a federal court case which ended last week.

A verdict is expected early next year.

Does anyone really take Robertson seriously anymore? I mean, he's like that crack head Minister @ Westboro Baptist Church. My only wish is that he'd start saying "God Hates America", oh wait, he already has, just with different wording LOL!!!!!!!!

This Guy is truly a living legend. From todays BBC news.

Evangelist says voters reject God

Pat Robertson's TV programme reaches a million Americans a day
A US Christian evangelist has told a Pennsylvania town not to ask for God's help if disaster strikes after it voted against teaching intelligent design.
ID says life is too complex to have developed through evolution and an unseen power must have had a hand.

On Tuesday, Dover voters ousted the local school board, which had tried to introduce the concept as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

Pat Robertson told his TV show that the town had turned its back on God.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Mr Robertson said on The 700 Club.

'Call Darwin'

The founder of the conservative Christian Broadcasting Network and Christian Coalition has faced criticism for past provocative statements.

God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in His eye forever

Last summer, he called for the assassination of Venezuelan Present Hugo Chavez, who is a vocal critic of President George W Bush.

Following his comments on Thursday, Mr Robertson issued a statement saying that he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences".

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in His eye forever," Mr Robertson said.

"If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

Supporters of intelligent design say the universe is so complex that a higher being must have created it.

Opponents say it is an attempt by conservatives to introduce religion into the school science curriculum.

Last month parents in Dover sued the school board, accusing it of introducing religion and creationism into schools, in breach of the US constitutional separation of church and state.

The case against the intelligent design policy was heard in a federal court case which ended last week.

A verdict is expected early next year.

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in His eye forever"

Now, God abides by the rules of dialecics, getting angry after millions of dishonourable things done by us, pittiful humans.

In any case, now we see this kind of voodoo magic is still happening in 21th century, and that not in an unknown tribe in africa somewhere in a jungle, but in USA.
