Vandalism and such?  I don't do such things, given that they would just give me a bad reputation.

When I was a "hardcore let's drunk and fuck shit up" punk rock kid I did such random acts of vandalism. But what does that accomplish? Nothing, other than your own sense of satisfaction which in no way helps "the cause."

But protesting and civil disobedience plays a more positive role and should be aggresivly persued. As in, most of the time it incoporates the masses into working for a common cause. Petty vandalism does not have that aspect. Unless you do that at a protest (which anarchists do, which also helps to seperate them from the masses) which then usually brings in the police and the brutality.

Also, things like "dine and dash" doesnt harm the employer the company. It affects the worker, the waitress. Everything that person/s ordered gets billed to the waitress.

There are other ways to help spread revolution, they maynot be as dreamy and fun as destruction, in fact it can very often be rather dull, boring, and redundant. To use Lenin's celebrated slogan "patiently explain," that is what must be done. Such as just talking to people about our ideas, setting up reading groups, going to protests and strieks to distribute leaflets and such. Most REAL revolutionary work is not "fun" or glorious, minus the actual time a revolution comes. But its all the work that must be done before a revolution, constantly agitating and explaining our reasons as to why we take such positions.

Not to scare you away with the boringness. But throwing a bike through a window does not consitute as being helpful for the "revolution."

I September 24 I attended the protest against the War in Iraq, among other things, in Washington DC. I wrote about in another portion of this site (apparently down at this time). So, that protest (about 300,000 people attended) was my first protest I had ever been to, and I was pretty amazed. I ran into several Marxist and less appealing socialist groups, perhaps the best being WSWS. What struck me as the most unusual was the concoction of causes at that protest, ranging from the War in Iraq to the freeing of Palestine to general US imperialism and the Bolivarian Revolution. That and the palpable frustration with the backward Democratic party, who in the end has the same face and mind as the Republicans. After marching and chanting (which was very satisfying), I enjoyed the Operation Ceasefire concert hosted by Jello Biafra (the front-man of the Dead Kennedys, my favorite band). So it was interesting, enlightening, but also made me aware of how messed up the left really is in America, for there were still beourgeois believers and Democrats in that crowd.

I disagree somewhat with POUM's characterization of vandalism. Here in DC there was a graffitti artist and anarchist who went by BORF, who attempted to convey leftist messages through his art. I as well as others enjoyed his work, his message probably went (for the most part) unnoticed, and the property owners were probably very angry to see his tag.

Anyway, that's about all the rebellious activity I've been doing, or at least that of which pertains to the socialist cause. I'm currently trying to get affiliated with some socialist parties, including the WSWS.

I am apart of a organization. It holds protests once and a while (quiet active). I have done Graffiti at school, but can't think of any civil disobedience events I have been involved with. Oh....there is being caught by a security guard for stealing a traffic cone that was being used to help the destruction of old houses to make way for a big huge by-pass...but that wasn’t revolutionary. I have water bombed rich people and once or twice pulled the finger at one or two private school kids in their big rich cars.....(nothing too bad). Ummmm, I have yelled at skinheads and then ran away to avoid getting bashed. I have also kicked a really expensive car but no damage was done.

In the future I will probably just go to more protests. Although I am planning to do a some left-wing stencil Graffiti operation in Christchurch (in NZ) these holidays...........
