A new bolshie!
« on: August 22, 2005, 12:55:52 PM »

Hello, comrades!

I'm new to YFIS Discussion Board and don't know anyone here. I'm looking forward to make new friends.

I'm from Pakistan and studying Computer Engineering. I'm an addict of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Life (ALife) research. I've been a Marxist/Leninist/communist/socialist since the start of the new millennium. Before that I used to be traditionalistic, reactionary, orthodox, conservative, fundamentalist, fanatic etc. But things began to change by the year 1998. At first, the change was small but these little changes kept on accumulating for some 2 years then suddenly I discovered that I was a new man. The dawn of the 21st century gave me a new birth.

The fundamental cause of this change was my hatred towards the heartless world filled with greed, aggression, acquisition, exploitation, competition, conquests and war. I found myself unable to accept and watch the colossal human potential and creativity being put to waste by the evil, vicious, ferocious, barbarous, inhuman, irrational and unjust socio-economic system! I regularly prayed to God day and night but there was no response. I discussed with mullahs [Islamic priests] the cruelty, inequality, injustice, oppression and the tyranny of the degenerated society. I asked them for the solutions given to us by God. They answered angrily and advised me to calm down. According to them the most we can do is to sincerely follow the instructions of God, propitiate Him and seek his support and help. Moreover, it's God who makes some people rich and some poor. We can't do anything against His will cuz he creates the world as He desires. The rich should help the poor. In fact it is obligatory to give 2.5% of their wealth as charity. This is the natural and/or Divine system. Deep inside I started to turn against such cruel and unjust God. I turned against religion when people stopped me to ask questions. According to them it is not allowed to ask such questions and it's very sinful. This is how I got interested in social sciences and economics.

I was introduced to Dialectical Materialism in a very exciting way. For me the study of Chaos Theory, Complexity Theory, Quantum Mechanics, Theory of Relativity, Organic Evolution, and Genetic Algorithms etc. opened the way for understanding Dialectics. Before that I never understood it. Suddenly it all became clear and obvious. Aha!

I'd like you people to help me and give me some advice. The problem is that I'm a non-practical person. In fact I'm isolated from the society. Cuz I'm facing some psychological problems. I've got only 2 to 3 friends. Well, here in Pakistan it's hard to find Marxist friends. My uncle was brutally killed by a crowd of fundamentalists and extremists in Lahore cuz he supported Marxism and honored Lenin. I was terrified and scared to death by the barbarous and horrifying scene. I'm alienated and depressed. Sometimes I feel like I'm an abnormal person. I don't know much about politics and political organizations? What do you think I can do for socialism? How can an abnormal person like me take part in the fight and struggle against imperialism? Please, do help and guide me!

Thanks.

Hello, nice to see such a long and detailed post. I am sorry to hear about your uncle's death. Fundamentalism is the barbarous level of reaction that senile capitalism has to resort to for keeping its regime in power. It is understandable that you become depressed under such conditions as you described.

However your "prayers" have been answered. :D Seek out The Struggle (Juddo Jedh). This is a Marxist organization with 1800 members and 3 Parliamentarys! The "Pakistan" section on the Marxist website, http://www.marxist.com, should be a gold mine for you. Pakistan is one of the countries where Marxism is most developed and has most influence over the workers. If you get in touch with these comrades you certainly won't feel alone any more! :D

http://www.marxist.com/indiapak.asp#pak

Here are some of the most inspiring articles about the struggle of The Struggle.

Marxist MP elected to parliament in Pakistan!

Pakistani Marxist MP speaks out

Manzoor Ahmed and thousands of PPP activists arrested

Arrest and release of Pakistan activists has big impact

Marxist MP challenges regime on PTCL strike and privatisation

Strangely The Struggle doesnt seem to have a web site but you can contact them through the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign (http://www.ptudc.org/), which is led by one of the Marxist MPs.

I hope you will check out this organization, as well as will stay on the forum :)

Great to have you on board.

Comradely,
Rune

Greetings.  It is unfortunate that your uncle died as such.  I hope that you get in contact with the organization in your area. :)

The struggle is a Trotskyist movement in Pakistan, however another growing communist party in Pakistan is the communist mazdoor kissaan party(cmkp) This is a marxist-leninist organization which so far is the only party to use force of arms for the revolution and even has it's own liberated region in Pakistan.

That's a Maoist organization. Maoism is a type of Stalinism, which is not a working class tendency but a tendency that carried out the counter-revolution and massacred the party of Lenin in Soviet Russia. It's based on the politics of a privileged bureaucracy that rises above a planned economy and creates a totalitarian regime that is a caricature of socialism. The Stalinists usually oppose genuine workers' revolutions and try to sabotage them, as in Germany 1933, Spain 1936 or British India during WWII. Did you know: the Stalin-controlled Communist Party said that Indian workers should unite with their British imperialist masters, because Britain was supposedly a "democracy" fighting against fascism. The "Communists" opposed all strikes and insurrections.

Mao gave "humanitarian" economic aid to the government of Zia ul-Haq, trying to gain influence against the Soviet Union bureaucracy. That should demonstrate the real nature of Maoism.

Well "Trotskyism" is the continuation of Leninism. Despite the misgivings between Trotsky and Lenin before 1917. Some criticism by Trotsky, turned out to be more than true. But from 1917 on, Lenin and Trotsky were on the same boat politicaly. After the Feburary Revolution in Russia many of the "old Bolsheviks" came back from exile in Siberia. Most notably among them Stalin and Kamenev. With the influence of being and "old Bolsheviks" the two started to steer the party in a Meneshivik direction (i.e. Supporting the provisional government).

While at the same time in exile from America and Swizterland, Lenin and Trotsky, without correspondence, immediatly published articles about the revolution that were among the same ideas. Basically no support for the provisional government. The workers must set up its own Councils of Workers, Soldiers, and Peasant Deputies. That the revolution is bourgeois, but the bourgeois cannot play a progressive role so therefore must be sacked in place of a workers government.

The Bolshevik leaders in Petrograd thought Lenin was going insane from the "Letters From Afar."  They thought he was infected with "Trotskyism." Then Lenin finally had made it back to Russia and after a few weeks of heated debate and reversed the party direction away from the provisional government.

Just read about this last night. Felt the need to repeat it. Good way to remember.

Plucky,

I agree wholeheartedly with your approach towards understanding Marxism using these tools -- which are all related to, or parallel with, systems theory. Likewise, I found the social dynamics described in Marxism/Leninism/Trotskyism to be immeasurably easier to comprehend with complexity theory/systems theory.

Daymare/Rune brings to our attention the fact of a Marxist comrade in an MP position in Pakistan -- a very encouraging reality. I would argue that, using systems/complexity theory, Pakistan can be seen to be in such a volatile/chaotic state that opportunities such as Manzoor Ahmed's (and others') are easier than elsewhere.

Also, please don't insult/degrade yourself for the simple fact of your non-knowing (about Seek Out The Struggle -- Juddo Jedh) -- I wouldn't even stoop to term it "ignorance", which implies more of a willful non-knowing.

Glad to see of your connection to the larger struggle through this message board, and through marxist.com -- take care, Plucky.

Chris
