The privatization of PTCL, despite handsome profits being generated by it through it's cellular subsidiary, U-FONE, was a crime. The PTCL workers occupied the PTCL premises and were promised negotiations by the government. However as soon as the police cleared out the area the government resumed the privatization process.
This callousness is not mainly because of lying government but because of the absence of any real Leftist mainstream party.
The PPP although traditionally supposed to be on the left has shown time and again that they are willing to sell out the workers in favour of perks for it's members in parliament.

The workers feel cheated. There is widespread discontent throughout the workers however to the mainstream left, apart from from a few individuals, has forgotten it. The privitization is going on smoothly without so much as a grunt from the PPP.

Not all of the PPP. MP Manzoor has been very vocal in his support.

lIKE I SAID, APART FROM A FEW PEOPLE. only comrade Manzoor as far as i know.
It's pretty sad comrade. The left is willing to sell out the workers it claims to represent in exchange for a chance at claiming power by cosying up to the regime and not raising any objecdtions to the privatization process.
Guess why that is? Because the PPP itself and all of it's subbranches consist of landowners and people with a vested interest in the status quo.
