Salutations Comerades,

I am Red Coup, better known as grarap, from London. My eyes were first opened to the left a year ago when I began to study the Soviet Russia in my own time. Like a Communist nation, I began a transitional phase to Socialism, and then finally to Marxism/Leninism. I first stumbled across YFIS about a month ago.

I go to a private school in the centre of my great city. Some of my opposition call me a hypocrite for being educated in a bourgeois collage, but usually I shrug off these criticisms. After all, if we were all state educated, Communism would never develop in the proletariat or petty-bourgeois educated under the aptly-named left wing of New Labour.

Call me a coward, but I find it very difficult to talk about Marxism outside of the circle of my close friends. When I try to distribute leaflets, the Capitalists and Conservatives simply laugh wildly at the notion of a Communist society. They give me the same old arguments; Communism just doesn't work. Naturally, I foucus my attention on the Intelligentsia.

My parents are liberals, but my grandpa was once Communist himself. However, he renounced his cause after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and who can blame him? I feel like I am picking up the ember of a fallen torch and blowing them back into life. I am looking forward to meeting new Comerades here for educated discussions on socialism. Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself!

Welcome Garap/Red Coup to the yfis Board.  You are in better company here than in your school which, like their Tory pupils, will also teach you how 'communism' or Soviet rule doesn't work, but not the real history of Bolshevism and the Movement.

The youth of the world must pick up that revolutionary torch again for the new generation who are seeking the truth and looking for something better than Imperialism and its ills.

Hi Red Coup!

And welcome to the boards!
You should really consider to get in contact with the YFIS comrades in Great Britain. Have a look at their magazine here: http://www.socialist.net and be sure to mail or phone them in order to get involved in the work!

Feel free also to post any questions or critiscisms you may have on these boards - thats what they are here for!

It is laudable that you even pass out pamphlets - close friends and classmates at my school know of my socialist philosophies, but I have not yet found the courage to openly discuss it. In fact, I am torn between wanting to voice my ideology and not having a tangible poltical party in my area to do so. I have met and talked with a local socialist, but I do not know of his party affiliations...

Nonetheless, it is nice to met you. What do you think the future holds for England? Surely it can't as bad as it is here in the States.
