I'm new here and I want socialist friends
« on: October 19, 2004, 07:49:26 PM »

I found this site yesterday but I know no one here
In fact, here in south Korea, it's hard to find socialist friends
There are two Koreas here
South and North
and North one was the one which seeked real socialism yesterday
I don't think it's good socialist country, though
I think it's good subject to discuss about, and you can make your own subject of your own country.
I'd glad to exchange revolutionary ideas with you

Hullo DawnOLiberation,

Always nice to see people intrestead in socialism. But it is also hard to find socialist friends, at least in America where people have no class conciousness. I basically have no friends that are socialists except for maybe two who listen to my rants and agree with me on many points but dont really get into it due to various reasons...namely weed, well thats my thinking at least.

Also, just come to the board here and exchange revolutionary ideas through the board. Answer to posts or post your own topic if you have a rant or a question. There are plenty of smart comrades on the board.

Welcome to the boards, comrade! I hear the atmosphere is hot in South Korea and heating up. Just like it is all over the world.

North Korea is not socialism at all, it's a twisted bureaucratic caricature. The only thing North Korea (or any of the former "real socialist" states) have in common with socialism is the planned economy. The country, and the economy, is run in a totalitarian way by a despotic and insane oligarchy, unlike socialism where the planned economy must be democratically controlled by the masses at every step. If capitalism comes back to North Korea then it will be a worse disaster than the continued rule of the "Great Leader", Kim Jong Il. That has been the position of the Marxists for decades, and it was proven by the restoration of capitalism in Russia, which has been a human catastrophe. The planned economy must be defended. But the only way forward is to overthrow the bureaucracy and create democracy in the economy.

Comradely,
Rune

hey, P.O.U.M
thanks for your reply
but i'm surprised at an american socialist and that's you
I've been always thinking there is an axis of 'good'
of which contains britain, U.S.(of course)and japan
and south korea can't be out of the axis
in south korea, many have died from court because they were left(just left, not communist)
and in america, many years of conflict between it and former USSR made many people uneasy with socialism
the reason why we can't find socialist friends easy may be it
i guess there will be more chance to meet them in other countries
socialist friend? that was just beyond my imagination
i didn't even think there could still be any socialist
when i want to ask about it, i had no one to do so around me
i think you(in america)could have been in the same environment
i feel you comrade-ful in 1.socialist and 2.rebellion inside the heart of capital
thank you for being so in there :)

Daymare17: you know north korea very well
I share same opinion with you
but i want to emphasize NK wasn't like that from the start
at first, there were so many communists that kim il-sung(before kim jong-il's rule) was not idolized as 'great leader'
but as time goes by, kim il-sung was likely to be stalin of NK
many people were out of power and he became tyrant
stalin may be responsible for it
wrong-do of frontier ruined following revolutions
our new frontier should make its way real socialistic
democracy not based on state-capitalism but socialism
i think we need revolution, but NK people, too, are ones who should seek revolution

P. S. I'm studying for university entrance exam, so i can't act actively right now. just a month later i can take part in here more actively.

Yes, it is also hard to find other Socialists in the US.  Welcome to the board, DawnOLiberation.:)  I will respond when I can, but due to schoolwork, not having a PC at home, and heated debates in other forums, I am not here as often as I used to be.

in 9th grade(in korea, 3rd grade of middle school) I was abstract socialist. I had no socialists around, and I even didn't know there were still 'socialist' thing. so it was for sure for while i couldn't handle with more advanced ideas further than abstract socialism. but, on my winter vacation i had chance to contact with socialists through intertnet, so i got so many ideas. by the time i found many socialist thinkers like marx, lenin, etc. but at that time i thought revolution was not necessary, so i think i at that time was 'social democrat'. but, next year, as i encounter many problems of social democracy, i thought what this world needed was not reform thing, but socialist revolution. reforming was not radical answer to the people. from then, i became communist. so i think i have been 'real' socialist since my 10th grade(1st grade in high school in south korea)but i had no much time, because south korean education requires curricular studies for univesity entrance exams. communist manifesto is easy to read and needs for short time to read, so i read it many times. i tasted das kapital(the capital)a little bit but i couldn't read it so much because of lack of time. i read other books, too, but i couldn't study it so much. a month later, i'll study Marxism and Marxist theory

It sounds like you've got a good start there. Just continue reading, and if you want to discuss anything, post it here.

It was great. I visited my family near Sežana (a small village called Šepulje near Tomaj) and hung out in that area for a while. It was great to be back for the second time. It was very hot there. ;)

It was too bad that I wasn't around Celje or we could have met. My other side of the family is from near there, but I didn't visit them.

Overall, it is going to be difficult to find Marxists locally, given that consciousness is nowhere near its boiling point.  That is why we have good message boards like this one, of which we can all meet each other from all over the planet!:)
