Here it is called "affirmative action," and it is very unfair. My friend, who is 25% Native American, will surely get more scholarship money than I will, despite the fact that my test scores will be higher than hers.

If one wouldnt know better, It would seem that they want it to ressurect again, while "wanting" to prevent it.

"ressurect again"? No need. It is alive and kicking since at least Columbus.

So true Petrel. Racism is made in capitalism. It arose as a justification for the slave trade. Neither the Romans nor the Greeks were racists. And in the medieval chivalry epic Parzival, the hero's father marries an African Negro princess. Can anyone imagine an old bourgeois novel dealing with the same thing?

It's not just racism. They guarantee at least an interview with anybody who is disabled and has the right qualifications.

Also, I'm frustrated about the fact that nobody will hire you unless you have some experience. I myself never had a job so I don't have any experience-but how can I get it if nobody hires me? So far I've given applications to 10 different places-ranging from fast food restaurants to a book store to a theater-and have yet to find a job. I have also only had 3 interviews.

Mir,
I feel your pain...i feel your pain. Same exact bullshit is happening to me. Plus an article in my local newspaper a month or 2 ago said its harder and harder for students and teenagers to find a job now-a-days. Most likely because of the lack of experince crap.
How am I ever to get experince if I cant even get a job to get some experince. Fucking capitalism...

What type of expierence-related questions were they asking you? If you have to, just say that you are a hard worker, and that you have worked well for relatives and such. That worked out for me.

they ask what previous jobs I had. Well, I never had a job so I just put N/A on it.

Most of them (or at least over here in the US) train on the job. Actually, many students are having a really hard time in LA to get a job. No employer wants a high school student or college kid, the younger generation having a bad reputation for being dumb and lazy. Especially when the employer can hire a middle aged Latino who will probably work harder, than the high school kid and for cheaper. Ive applied to a good amount of jobs, and i was friendly and polite, but never here back from them. Its quite frustrating not having money. Maybe i should start selling pot:D
