The true story of Red October

I do not know if any of you in Britain saw the film "The Hunt for the Red October" the other night. This film with Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin and others is based on a Tom Clancy novel about a group of Soviet warship officers who decide to deffect to the US. The novel was actually based on real events. But new evidence from Soviet archives show that the officers were not trying to deffect to the West but rather to start an uprising to get the Soviet Union back to genuine Leninism!

Have you maybe seen film "K-19 -- the widowmaker"?
It is pretty similar story. SU builds a huge nuclear submarine and party officials want it tested. Although some things went wrong they insisted that submarine must go out to the sea. Then they found the expert for nuclear core engine drunk and they principally swapped him with an university student, although he was the only one who knew how the thing is really working (bureaucratic mismanagment :)).

The submarine was then tested, bla bla bla, but then problems with core engine started to show up and then they had only one solution, try to stop overheating of the core. Now this is pretty crazy stuff in the film. They didn´t have anti-radiation suits, so they used biological suits, which protected them from radiation just psyhically not physically (if you know what I mean). Meanwhile majority of the crew got on the surface of teh submarine where radiation was lower then an American submarine spotted them but did not fire and wanted to pick them up. But they did not want to go to Americans, because that way Americans would get their submarine....

When tehy returned home they were put to martial court and found guilty, because bureaucracy thought that they wanted to defect....

Well the first part of the story is different than in the original happening, but the end is very near to the real thing, nevetheless.

Hmm, I will download this movie again, I see Grave Disorder will have nothing against that, HAHA. :)

I was extremely moved by reading that article...
It is undoubtly of great significant, theese revolts against the hated stalinist parasites. Also the fascinating events, like the Novocherkassk uprising, and the hungarian revolution, is

When I am not so busy, I will consider translating it to danish, because it really deserves to be readen by all hornest socialist.

By the way, did you use other sources than the documenetary? When I read the article, it seemed to me like it was some kind of interview with Sasha Shein, and the other ex-crew members... is this the case???
Or did you use other sources, for the article - if so - do you have any suggested reading material?
