If or when full socialism is achieved, how would the world be organised. Would we have small co-operative communities envisaged by Aldous Huxley in Island and After Many a Summer (indirectly) or a world state envisaged by H G Wells in An Open Conspiracy and The Shape of Things to Come? Less likely and frankly, less appealing, would we have a federation of nations or states.

In order to get efficiency the whole world economy must be centralised.

Now where to put the capital, that's the big question.

Yes, as daymare has stated in order for it to be totally efficient, the world must have centralisation so that effective economic planning can be achieved.  And I do see a federation of nations/states.

Food for thought is William Morris' (a 19th century socialist) book News From Nowhere. I am reading it now and it is really fascinating. It's a kind of mix between "looking into the future" and of simply good literature.

Or lose our ventures.

I guess first progressive thing would be one democratic and centralized world state, rather than alliance of nation states, then gradual dying away of it.
